Chinese Export Porcelain Imari Bowl with Wood Stand, Qing Kangxi, Circa 1700
About the Item
This is a beautiful Chinese Export porcelain footed Bowl with fine Imari hand painted decoration, dating to the Qing, Kangxi period, circa 1700. The bowl comes with a Chinese hardwood stand.
This bowl is finely potted on a fairly high foot and an everted indented rim. The glaze is white with a very slight blue tinge.
It is beautifully hand decorated both inside and outside, using various shades of underglaze blue with the Imari palette of over-glaze burnt orange, red, a light salmon color and gold.
The inside centre has a flowering plant growing from a pot sat on a fenced verandah, all within a blue circle. The outside is finely painted in six alternating sections, three with a mainly blue house, fence, tree and mountain scene within a blue lappet shaped border and three circular floral patterns, with further intricate floral decoration between each section of the design. All of the sections though similar are individually different in their detail. There is also a four section floral border pattern to the inner rim The painting has been carried out in a beautiful free flowing style.
The tall foot has two blue circles around its perimeter.
The Chinese hardwood stand is hand carved and compliments the bowl, lifting it to make the lower outer decoration more visible.
The base is unmarked.
