Chinese polychrome enameled ceramic roof ornament, early 20th century

About the Item

Chinese polychrome enameled ceramic roof ornament, early 20th century, These figurines were designed to ward off evil spirits and protect the owners. It is a versatile type of Chinese decoration using glazes, predominately in three colors-amber, green and cream. These were first developed in the late seventh century and used primarily for funerary goods. This bearded warrior appears to be in a running stance with outstretched hands, dressed in full body armor. Figure stands on wooden base with Lucite holders that measures 9.75"L x 4.25"D x 6"H.
