About the Item

Famille rose bright colorful vintage ceramic garden seat, stool or occasional side table. This ceramic Famille rose pink piece features a ceramic round and oblong body with the overall shape tapering slightly at the top as well as the bottom. The top of the stool in the middle features a pierced medallion through the ceramic with four long diamond-shaped piercings surrounding a square piercing in the middle. Throughout the seat includes raised round ceramic high relief circles in red. In bright pink, this particular color palette is known as Famille rose. And represents pieces which feature a bright or pastel pink color palette. Famille rose is a highly sought after color palette in ceramic pieces. Especially in garden seating. The sides of this garden stool feature Asian scenes of women gathered around a table perhaps playing mahjong or some other type of game. Behind the women, are scenes of flora and fauna with trees and flowers. The women are wearing bright colorful robes in yellow, pink, red and green. Each scene is framed by a red or pink scalloped frame. Outside the scalloped frame, are highly decorated hand-painted Famille rose floral and cabbage type foliage in both green, yellow, pink and white. Around both the top and bottom, a beautiful Greek key and cabbage-like design in green, yellow and blue add a lovely accent. This piece is a very versatile one. This stool could be used as a side or occasional table, a garden seat both indoor or outdoor, additional seating, or for stacking books or accent pieces. However you decide to use this beautiful Famille rose piece, we are sure that it will add interest and that little bit of something old which we think that every room deserves. Created in China, circa 1960.
