About the Item

From a small collection of five Persian hand painted pottery vases is this stylish earthenware bottle shaped vase hand painted with artichoke floral designs dating from the early to mid-20th century. The lightly potted vase stands on a narrow round unglazed foot rim with slightly recessed base and has a round bulbous shaped body with a tall slender neck with slightly widened ring-shaped top. The body of the vase is hand painted with artichoke style flowers in black outline with tones of turquoise and red set against a white ground against a green painted surround. The vase is not marked. In good presentable with age crazing to the glazed finish and the usual irregularities of these handmade pieces. Provenance: acquired in the British art market.
