About the Item

Satsuma bowl decorated with gold and polychrome enamels, internally depicting a procession with Samurai and a Daimyo on horseback. On the outer side, numerous walking figures are depicted. Signed Shoko Takebe and written in katakana "Thomas B. Blow." Work published in the volume "Selection 2024. Diameter: 11 cm Meiji, c. 1900. Thomas B. Blow was an English merchant who lived in Japan. It provided many collectors in Europe. The connection with Shoko Takebe is not known, but his name is found only in Takebe's works.
