About the Item
Three Chinese Yixing Clay Teapots, probably 20th Century. These charming teapots are beautifully formed of clay and varying in rich shades of brown and deep blue. Each is decorated with a bamboo theme. The largest pot decorated to show cherry blossoms in rich brown to the handle side, and incised bamboo in deep blue to spout side. The two smaller each with bamboo decoration, the smallest with deep blue handle and spout, the other a rich clay brown. As a decorative grouping these would make a beautiful mix with other natural materials (marbles, mohairs, cashmere, natural woods), and would stand out as a sculptural addition to decorated mantle or shelf, or integrated into a bookshelf display.
The measurements are for the largest teapot. The smallest measures approximately 6 inches deep, 3 1/2 inches wide and 3 3/4 inches high.

Tea drinking has been an integral part of Chinese culture for centuries, resulting in a wide range of social customs and material traditions. In addition to tea leaves, water, and heat, the art of drinking tea (chayi) calls for a variety of teaware and utensils - both practical and decorative.
This charming teapot dates to the late Qing dynasty and is hand-carved from a hollow length of bamboo to appear as though parceled by a cloth strung with tassels. The teapot has a squat, rounded form and a dark brown finish, reminiscent of Yixing red clay teapots...
