About the Item

This is Two PAIRS of Chinese export Cups and Saucers made from eggshell porcelain and hand painted in the very decorative Rose Medallion pattern, which we date to the 19th century, Qing dynasty, circa 1850. This listing is for TWO Pairs of Cups and Saucers, two cups and two saucers, making four items in total. All pieces are very finely hand potted in a very thin translucent white porcelain, with radial chatter marks clearly visible on the rear of the saucers from the potting wheel. Each cup is raised on a small foot with a loop handle. They are all hand painted in the Canton or Chinese export, Rose Medallion decoration with two main panels, one consisting of a group of Chinese people in a house setting and the other with flowers and a bird, with a butterfly between the panels. All pieces also have some hand gilding around the panels and on the cup handle tops. The cups have a matching border decoration below the inner rim. The pieces are all unmarked to the bases. Overall a fine, decorative double PAIR of Chinese Canton Cups & Saucers.
