A Japanese black lacquer box Together with a blue and white Arita plate, 20th century Lacquer box of rectangular form with bamboo decorated cover, fitted with six small trays, all decorated with various plant motifs in gold hiramaki-e against black lacquer grounds Measures: H 2 1/8 in.( 5.4 cm.) x L 4 1/4 in.(10.8 cm.) x W 3 1/2 in.( 8.9cm.) Trays: H 1/4 in.( 0.8 cm.) x L 3 5/8 in.( 9.2 cm.) x W 2 7/8 in.( 7.2 cm.) Blue & white scalloped rim Arita plate with a central roundel of prunus blossom, flowers and bamboo sprays issuing from rockwork, within border panels alternated with panels of landscapes and foliage, the rim with a stylized waves. Measures: Height 1 3/8 in.( 3.5 cm.) x 8 1/2 in.( 21.6 cm.) diameter.
