Large Burmese Red Lacquer Large Offering Bowl, Late 19th or Early 20th Century

A stunning Burmese woven bamboo and red lacquered large offering bowl, late 19th or early 20th century.
The attractive footed bowl of large melon or squash form, with a slight neck and wide mouth, and an even wider body featuring twelve ribs, all tapering slightly to rest upon six leaf shaped feet.
Woven from bamboo then lacquered in layers - first black, then red. The lacquer now with a beautiful patina. Areas of the red lacquer worn to reveal the black lacquer beneath, much like Japanese negoro lacquer.
