Antique Burmese A-le, a zoomorphic form bronze market weight often referred to as an “opium weight”, in the form of a Hintha, a Brahmani Duck (Hamsa) emblem of the Mon kingdom with duck’s bill, crested comb, bulging eyes, and side wings standing on a tapered hexgonal base with a overhead loop handle connected to the tail and head, measuring 1 viss. Signs of wear, original patina, fine condition. 4.25 inches high x 2.25 inches deep and 2.5 inches wide (11 x 5.6 x 6.4cm) high. 3lbs. 6.2 oz. (1538g). 19th century.
