About the Item

This stunning Koro was crafted in Takaoka, Japan where craftsmen use intricate tooling and expert kills to create the delicate details found in this piece. Crafted of bronze, this Koro portrays intricate sterling silver cranes, accented with copper or rose gold tail feathers, that elegantly flow across the front. This piece combines the true sense of beauty the Japanese have always cherished, with modern artisans who hold a deep appreciation of old-world masterpieces. Takaoka has produced works of art such as this piece for over 400 years as a foundry town. Skilled craftsmen create each piece individually using old-world methods, associated with this area of Japan. Introduced at the 1862 London World Exposition and the 1867 Paris World Exposition, this art copper and bronze ware have since become collector pieces globally. This piece would be a beautiful addition to a collection or as an accent piece for those with discerning taste in décor.
