Japanese Showa Era Cloisonne Enamel Box By Ando Co

About the Item

A Japanese cloisonne enamel lidded spherical box made by the Ando Company. Showa, period, 1926 to 1989. The box is decorated with a milky white enamel throughout with a cloisonne enamel floral pattern in blue, green, purple and red colors on the lid. Comes in an original square wooden box with inscriptions in Japanese. Ando Company is a Japanese cloisonne making company founded in the 19th century, located in Sakae, Nagoya, central Japan. In 1900 the Ando Co. was appointed as the official supplier of cloisonne to the Japanese Imperial Court. Asian Enamel Ware And Decorative Collectibles. Dimensions: D 3 1/2 in.
