Large Rare Antique Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Plate

About the Item

A large rare antique, Meiji era, Japanese enamel over copper plate or charger. The interior of the plate is made in a symmetrical design, adorned with polychrome enamel medallions featuring floral, foliage, cloud, and foliate scroll ornaments on the olive green ground made in the Cloisonne technique. The backside features polychrome enamel images of blossoming flowers surrounded by cloud and foliage motifs, and a scaly pattern made in the same technique. Unmarked. Circa: late 18th century.
