About the Item
Chinese, 19th or possibly late 18th century.
An oversized Chinese 6 panel wallpaper screen mounted as a PAIR of 3 panel screens. Each nearly 8 foot tall panel has stunning hand laid silk mounted to a strong backboard and embellished with oils, watercolors and other materials to produce vivid arrays of botanicals, birds and a vibrant landscape.
This screen was originally wall mounted in the estate but would function as a floor screen or mounted on the wall.
They are mounted with 2 way brackets for easy folding, strength and versatility. Verso is a robin’s egg blue silk backing to each. Unmarked.
