French Gilt Bronze Fire Screen Guard Bouhon 19th Century

About the Item

Gilt Bronze Antique Fire Screen made by Bouhon, this is a magnificent Peacock style Fire Screen having wonderful Bronze Lions head cast to the front, the centre section un locks to release eight radiating pierced fan acting as a most decorative screen. The rear of the screen is stamped in capital letters by the maker BOUHON. Bouhon Frères were prominent French producers of fireplace tools in the 19th century. The firm Bouhon participated in the 1878 and 1900 Paris Expositions Universelles. Rare to have a Fire Screen made and signed Bouhon. The proportions are much more generous being 80cm tall x 21cm wide closed opening out to 116cm. Please let me know if there is any questions you may have or require any extra pictures etc.
