About the Item

Late Meiji period Chinese Brown and Polychrome Coromandel Lacquer Eight Panel Screen. Charming continuous village screen with gorgeous brown lacquer and polycrhomed village scene on front. Back side is also a scene or a marsh with plants and water fowl. Back side is slightly more muted in colors and can also be used as the primary face of the screen. Screen could be mounted on wall for a total of 124" wide and 84" high, Screen is heavy and should be lifted by two people. Nicks to lacquer are consistent to the age and use. one hinge has been repaired, but awkwardly. please see photos.
