About the Item

A lovely antique pair (2) Japanese hand-painted six-panel folding screens byobu- each conceived in an attractive birds, trees, and blue waters motif. Likely given as a wedding gift , this pair includes showy pairs of birds in tree branches and mountains among surreal blue water falls. Vivid vibrant colors feature gold mist back ground. Beautifully hand painted mineral pigments on paper. Smaller size makes this pair conveniently installable with multiple possibilities. Accompanied with original black lacquer frames and original metal ornaments - just the way we like to find them. Dimensions: each screen is 18 inches high and 37.5 inches length. Total length of pair screens (end to end) is 75 inches. A special gift, this pair of smaller scale screens are also ideal for small wall areas in tea rooms or alcoves tokonoma (toko-no-ma), or simply toko, which is a built-in recessed space in a Japanese style reception room, in which items for artistic appreciation are displayed. Lifetime guarantee of authenticity: All of our Asian works of art come with our lifetime authenticity guarantee.
