About the Item

A Japanese six-panel folding screen, decorated with gold leaf and gold powder, depicting a landscape with traditional houses nestled among green hills, streams, and bamboo and pine trees. At the center stands a blossoming cherry tree, beneath which two doves are perched on the roof of a house, while at the upper left a group of chidori flies across the sky. The frame in lacquer is elegantly adorned with openwork and finely crafted metal fittings. Period: Edo, 18th century Dimensions: 170 × 378 cm Condition: Excellent overall condition. Wear is present along the joints, as well as retouching to the decoration and gold leaf. Some defects to the lacquer frame.
