About the Item

Ribbons of 17th century calligraphy poems are mounted on an 18th century screen with a woven bamboo motif. These poems are aristocratic Waka poems (longer than haiku) from the anthology titled “Shin Chokusen Waka shu”. Which were written by Fujiwara no Teika by the order of the emperor Go Horikawa in 1232. Sumi ink and gold dust with mineral pigments and gold leaf on mulberry paper. Brocade border and wood frame with original ornate bronze hardware.
