Japanese Taisho Two Panel Screen Figures in the Garden

About the Item
Exceptional Japanese Taisho period two-panel byobu screen depicting figures in the garden. Beautifully detailed with a male figure above in a window observing an elderly samurai accompanying a beauty and her maid walking amid gourds growing on a bamboo arbor. The foliage is painted in a textured, dark green color with a metallic luster which is hard to see in pictures. The bamboo has a rich gilt finish. The painting is embellished with intricate details and textures not commonly seen. The ink and natural color pigments are painted on gold silk and set in a black lacquered frame. Signed with a seal by artist Shugetsu on upper right side.
