About the Item

Charming pair of late Regency pole screens Intricately decorated with needlepoint tapestry One screen features a vivid floral spray and the other shows a flowering fruit We date these to circa 1830 and they are in great shape Stand on hand carved tripartite base with paw feet A beautiful addition to any room, decorative pole screens served an important function in the 18th century The tall thin screens shielded people’s faces from the direct heat of the fire as people wore a lot of make up in those days and often needed protection from the heat Offered in great shape ready for home use right away.
