About the Item

Watercolor painting on fabric surmounted on wood that shows Buddha and two of his famous disciples Sariputta and Mogallana. The disciples enjoy princely three tier umbrellas. The Buddha is in the middle with his left hand held upright in the Abhaya Mudra gesture and standing atop a lotus flower. The three figures are against the backdrop of a dark field ending in a pointed arch and filled by the "shower" of red florets. Presented in a gilt wood frame with stripes. Sticker on verso that reads "Thai Painting on material." Comes with attached brass picture light. Dimensions: Sight: 35" x 57 1/2" Frame: 38 1/4" W x 60 1/2" H x 1 3/4" D Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age include losses and flaking to watercolor, minor wear to frame which does not detract from the serene and incredible presentation.
