About the Item

Foo dogs normally travel in pairs, but this fellow is a lone wolf or dog and no less charming for it. This is beautiful Chinese hardstone in the deepest rose or pink tone with gray areas. It is mounted on a rosewood base. The carving is sharp and the hardstone is finely polished. Overall, the lion presents a fierce and menacing silhouette. The Asiatic lion was thought to symbolize the powers of yin and yang, masculine and feminine. They were believed to have mystical powers that could protect against negative and evil influences. Historically, the Foo dog/Fu dog guarded temples and palaces in Asia. They also guarded imperial Chinese palaces and tombs. This fierce little dog is ready to guard the home front where you live,
