About the Item

A 19th century Chinese standing priestess sculpture made from terracotta during the later stages of the Qing dynasty with traces of original paint. This small hollow statue displays a standing priestess wearing a dress with a hood. The round face and the clothes evoke a woman of the Mongolian steppes area and the statue may echo pieces of the earlier Tang Dynasty. Remnants of the original paint can be seen on the hood and the face as well as the distinct circles on the dress. This 19th century Qing dynasty Chinese painted terracotta priestess statue will bring an eastern exotic attribute to any home, and would be a tremendous conversation starter in a living room sitting on a mantelpiece.
