About the Item

Coming from an American Folk art collection of animal sculptures- only one. A fine huge, signed, and heavily hand carved charming erect rabbit measuring 21 inches tall and 9 inches wide- one of the largest hand carved rabbits we have ever seen. It is carved in a medium brown wood, perhaps elm wood. Please note the carefully and simply detailed ears, cheeks, mouth, and paws, circa 1920. This is a remarkable American Folk art sculpture perhaps originally crafted as a paper mache mold. Boldly signed on bottom of base: P.B.A. Quality: finely fashioned with erect carved ears, paws, cute nose and tail, plus those bulging eyes, and other quality details; original old brown patina from appropriate age. In addition, the surface skin is amply magnified to include the wooly fur. Wear is consistent with appropriate age. Dimensions: 21 inches high and 9" wide Only one. Lifetime guarantee of authenticity: All of our folk art works of art come with our lifetime authenticity guarantee. About Folk Art Folk arts reflect the cultural life of a community. The art form encompasses the expressive culture associated with the fields of folklore and cultural heritage.
