About the Item

A late 19th C. granite Buddha head on wooden base. Utttar Pradesh, Northern India. The hand-carved features include the typical snail-shell curled hair, elongated ears, half-closed eyes and serene smile. The Ushnisha crown depicts the wisdom and illumination after attaining enlightenment. It is mounted on a wooden stand which measures 9" c 7" x 2"h. The Lockhart Collection is a personally curated gallery of antiques and fine jewelry, owned and operated by Deborah Lockhart Phillips. The antiques and vintage pieces encompass Nautical Artifacts & Instruments, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern Furniture and Lighting, British Campaign furniture, and of course the finds that simply defy being categorized.
