A Rare Chinese Pale Lavender Jadeite Carving of Two Immortals
About the Item
A Rare Chinese Pale Lavender Jadeite Carving of Two Immortals, on its original carved wood base, from a private collection. One standing and one kneeling, mounted on an openwork wooden base. The standing figure holds a curved lotus stem in the right hand, extending upward to a flower with a small pagoda-shaped element. The left arm is bent at the elbow, with the hand resting on the shoulder of the kneeling figure. The figure wears a long robe with incised folds and a sash draped over the back.
The kneeling figure is positioned to the left, with both knees bent and the right hand raised. The figure has a rounded head and wears a short robe with simple folds. A bird with an upturned head is carved in front of the kneeling figure, with its wings folded against its body.
The composition includes a continuous curved lotus stem connecting the two figures. A circular opening is carved within the stem. The figures stand on a fitted wooden base with an openwork design of interlocking scroll motifs. The base has a raised platform with a subtly recessed border, supporting the jadeite carving.
