About the Item
A wonderful piece. This beautifully sculpted and adorned bronze and gilt, Buddha is from the Thai Rattanakosin Kingdom period (1782-1932) and has a nice patina and coloring acquired through age. The Buddha is in a standing position and is holding one hand in the double Abhaya mudra position, which symbolizes protection, benevolence, and peace. His face is well-shaped and finely detailed with a meditative expression. The Buddha is quite ornately and elaborately dressed in full royal regalia, including a spire-like crown and royal upturned slippers.
Would be a great addition to any Asian artifacts or Buddha collection or eye-catching stand-alone accent piece in about any setting.
