Very large vintage Turkish Suzani is heavily hand-embroidery with faded organic yellow, blue and red colors silk threading. Beautiful Uzbek hand stitched designs with silk in traditional patterns saffron colors, red and shades of blue. Could be hang on the wall, or used as a bedspread or sofa spread. Overall good condition for its age and use some small holes and stains. Dimensions: 76.5" x 107" Vintage embroidered Uzbek Suzani. Beautiful suzani hand-stitched Islamic Turkish designs with silk in traditional patterns in a beautiful pale yellow with red and turquoise threads. The Suzani features rows of a rectangular medallion with flowers, peonies within an ornate grid, all sitting on a bed of light yellow saffron color. This amazing embroidery piece could be used as a table cover or bedspread or upholstery. This ethnic textile Turkish Suzani is a great choice to add a touch of Asian tribal folk design to any decor modern or traditional, Moroccan, Bohemian. Could be also hang in either way, vertical or horizontal. Condition: there are some pulled threads. some imperfections in the piece should be tolerated due to age of the piece and being handmade. They are mostly large silk and cotton embroideries that are used to to decorate interiors of the houses . Suzanis were also an important part of a girl’s dowry. Each region in Uzbekistan had their own design pool and style. Tashkent ones are far different from the Bukhara ones or Shahr-i Sabz ones. They embroidered them for different utilitarian purposes, as coverlets for the small law tables, as covers for the beddings stacked into the niches during the day.

Fabulous antique 19th C. Suzani from Bukhara Uzbekistan embroidered with swaying floral branches and flowers. Museum quality collectible antique hand embroidered Islamic Art textile called Susani or Suzani. Very fine art work embroidered with silk thread in many shades of green were used (sacred color in Islam it is the color of Paradise), and shades of pink from light pink to red to fuchsia. The yarns are organic vegetable dyed. The piece was made in different pieces that were put together. This antique Islamic folk art piece was embroidered in the city of Bokhara, on the Silk Road. The uses are limitless however, they are often used as wall hangings, table covers, sofa cover throw, bed spreads and upholstery fabric. A similar Susani is on display at the Museum of Islamic Art in Shangri LA Doris Duke Home is Hawai.
