1920's Indian Gujarati Rabari Kutch Silk Embroidered Ethnic Textile with Mirror

Antique 1920's Indian Gujarati handmade ethnic textile wall hanging Banjara tapestry with mirrors, embroidered with silk thread work. Embroidered ethnic Rabari Kutch textile, India circa 1920’s/40’s, Gujurati. Handwoven cotton base with silk thread organic dyed embroidery and embellished with small cut glass mirrors. Great to use as a wall hanging  or bed cover in your Moroccan Bohemian Yoga room. Dimensions: 32.5 x 59.5 inches. Provenance: Beverly Hills California, Private Collection of Indian Folk Textiles. Museum quality collectible Islamic Folk Art Ethnic Textile. Condition: Good, this vintage antique item has no defects, but it may show slight traces of use. The Rabari or Rewari are an indigenous tribal people in Northwestern India, primarily Gujarat & Rajasthan. The word “Rabari” translates to “outsiders”, and Rabari people are thought to have migrated from Iran via Baluchistan & Afghanistan. Rabari textiles are traditionally vibrant and highly embroidered, with embroidery suzani style comprising of chain stitch, back stitch and herringbone with liberal use of mirrors. Rugs and textiles possess a remarkable ability to forge connections with us, becoming cherished companions as we spend time appreciating them as works of art.
