Set Of Antique 19th Century Chinese Embroidered Sleeve Panels
About the Item
Set of framed 19th century Chinese embroidered sleeve panels, likely the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The panels depicting figures in a garden setting with traditional Chinese motifs such as trees, pavilions, bridges, flowers, birds and potted plants.
The embroidery likely features a variety of fine stitches including the forbidden stitch.
The panels are presented in a sage paint decorated frames and glazed. One frame holds two matching panels. The other frames hold another matching set.
Dimensions:
Large - 9 3/4" x 22 1/4" x 5/8"
Smaller - 5 7/8" x 20 3/4" x 5/8"
Condition:Please see detail photos. Various acceptable signs of age include stains to silk especially at bottom, one with "bleeding" to black thread, light soiling and marks. The frames are distressed with wear to frames. The paper backs are fragile with tears and visible water stains. Despite the wear the Panels present in an authentic and very decorative manner.
