Maison Jansen fireplace mantel brushed steel and carved stone 1968

About the Item

This impressive fireplace mantel was executed by Maison Jansen in 1968 for a mansion in Paris 16th arrondissement, under Pierre Delbée supervision. Executed in brushed stainless steel, with 18th century carved and sculpted stone jambs. The contrast between brushed steel and the warm stone is typical of Pierre Delbée artistic direction of Maison Jansen in the late 1960s and 1970s. Delbée took over the direction of Maison Jansen after Stéphane Boudin passed away in 1967, keeping the neoclassical design signature, but injecting some modernity and tension to it. This fireplace is a perfect example of the 1970s vibe of Maison Jansen. This fireplace was presented by Gallerie Yves Gastou in New York in 2006. Overall mantel dimensions: width 59.65 inches x depth 14.55 inches x height 38.2 inches. Hearth opening dimensions: width 30.3 inches x depth 7.28 inches x height 27.95 inches.
