About the Item

A unique and most decorative French 19th century Louis XV st. Belle Époque period polychrome and giltwood planter. The planter is raised by three elegant polychrome cabriole legs with fine topie shaped feet below lovely scrolls and acanthus leaves. Beautiful giltwood fillets extend along the most decorative curved stretcher with a finely detailed central bouquet of blooming flowers and also extend up each leg to striking richly carved acanthus leaves and exquisite flowers at the corners. The planter above retains all of its original canned sides framed within additional fine giltwood fillets with delicate carved blooming flowers all below the mottled top giltwood band and removable fitted insert.
