Victorian pierced silver basket
About the Item
A large and impressive oval antique silver basket featuring slat work and fine cast detailing, The body is decorated with hand-pierced openwork detailing and a central band of hand-chased leaf and berry garlands supported by classical medallions. The undulating border has an attractive cast and applied scroll and leaf design interspersed with flowerheads and fruits. This basket is mounted on four cast husk and scroll feet.
This impressive bowl would make a wonderful table centrepiece and can be used for fruit or, with the addition of a glass liner, for flower displays.
