About the Item

A large and impressive Italian porcelain open work basket shaped centrepiece hand painted with floral designs by Mangani and dating from the 20th century. The basket stands raised on four scroll feet and is of elongated shape with central roundels to either side set within molded ribbon borders and hand painted with blue floral designs highlighted with gilding. Set within open lattice basket work with scrolling patterned edging extending into scroll handles to either end. The centrepiece is decorated in tones of pink and blue enriched with gilding and with small scattered gilded leaves to the inner body. With printed makers marks to the base. Provenance: acquired in the British art market. In good condition with some minor wear and rubbing to the gilding. The feet have also been made separately and appear to have been glued or attached with some reglued.
