A charming fine quality antique French demilune decorative box from the late 19th century, finished in stunning rich briar elm burlwood, the half-moon shaped bentwood revolving door table or desk box - jewelry casket - trinket keepsake small cabinet - old fashioned cigarette case, features flower needlepoint tapestry beneath a glass top framed by embossed floral foliate motif gilt metal border, embellished with sculpted and chiseled neoclassical swag gilt bronze ormolu mounted accents over gilded running ornamentation. The wooden case features an unusual form that conceals a spinning door that opens by gently pushing one side, as the rotating door turns to the opposite side, the back of the door reveals a fitted interior divided into four compartments. From the estate of legendary American businessman and billionaire, the late T. Boone Pickens. Superb craftsmanship and detailing. Exceptionally executed. Excellent condition, beautiful, elegantly aged patina. Sadly the key has been lost to time. Overall a truly example Provenance / Acquisition: Acquired from the Dallas, TX estate of T. Boone Pickens (b.1928 -2019). An American business magnate and financier. J. Garrett Auctioneers had the pleasure of presenting this item from the iconic Texas and Oklahoma oil tycoon, T. Boone Pickens' Dallas home. The breadth of T. Boone Pickens' career is impressive. He built one of the largest independent natural gas oil companies in the United States and flourished as an entrepreneur thereafter, generating hundreds of billions of dollars in the process.
