About the Item

This antique pressed glass jewelry casket or jar is unsigned but presumed to have been made in the United States in circa 1880 in the period Victorian style. The jar is made of a cream base glass with a swirled rose colored glass that accents both the top and base and transitions to the base cream glass towards the center. The top and base have a period detailed scalloped shape and are nicely accented with hand painted enamel flowers. The top and bottom are held together with beaded brass collars and a sturdy hinge and strong clasp. The jar stands on a three footed brass base and the inside of the jar is fabric lined.
