Antique English Regency Toleware Footed Coal Box or Scuttle with Brass Handles

$1,695

About

This antique metal coal box or coal scuttle is presumably made in England during the 1820s in the Regency period and style. The box is constructed of thin metal sheeting, with a convex hinged top and claw feet. The entire box is painted in a glossy black and the top and front are decorated with a hand painted floral motif within a raised border with fine gold hand painted detailing on the outer perimeter. The sides of the box also have hand painted gold details that accent the borders. The drop handles on either side are solid brass.
