A pair of Japanese Meiji Period (1852-1912) bronze altar candlesticks / incense holders with attractive warm brownish red bronze color and patina.
Japan, 19th century, diminutive / petite bulbous tiered sculptural form with dragon mask and floral reliefs, rising on elephant trunk cabriole legs, resting on raised circular foot, with fairly heavily patinated finish.

Nestled in the heart of posh Uptown Dallas lied a hidden gem that closed its doors after 20 years of business. A long time go-to spot for celebrities, presidents, and collectors of fine 18th and 19th century antiquities especially from Europe and Russia, the owner decided to retire and close her store.

Condition Report:
Good original antique condition. Attractive appearance. Wear consistent with over 140 years of age, use, handling and exposure. Rustic patina, with significant buildup. Please note, at the time of the photos they had not been dusted or cleaned. They will not be polished, however they will be dusted and wiped down prior to shipping.

Hand-crafted in the early 20th century, Czech Republic (Bohemia), the handmade ceramic candle holders executed in traditional Boho taste, with a reddish orange molten ground, richly detailed throughout with vibrant hand painted floral motifs, having bright colorful hues and hints of various colors including lemon, lime, lavender, cobalt, and sky blue.
Signed underfoot; the circular base underside with beautifully aged craquelure, stamped and marked numbering, and stamped with the importers Coronet trademark, which is a stamp of a crown inside a laurel wreath. Above the crown is written "Trademark" and below the Crown "Coronet." This trademark was registered to George Borgfeldt & Co., a major U.S. importer located in New York City.
