About the Item

Small terrestrial globe on a blackened and waxed turned wood stand. The globe is made of polychrome printed paper mounted on plasterboard. It bears the inscription “globe terrestre dressé par J Forest géographe. On sale in Paris, Maison Forest, 17 rue de Buci”. Some minor scuffing of the paper in places, but overall good condition, no breakage. Biography Joseph Forest, born March 20, 1865 in Paris and died March 30, 1942, was a French geographer and cartographer. In 1886, at 17-19 rue de Buci, he founded his own publishing house for maps and plans, world maps, globes, terrestrial and celestial spheres, charts and wall maps for educational use. He became a supplier to schools in 1889, approved by the Ministry of Public Instruction. To know more, please read the Wikipedia page
