French Charles X Large Marble and Gilded Bronze Ink Well and Candle Stand

This Louis XVI console table is made from carved wood that has been gessoed then painted and gilded in several colors creating a rich play of color. The deep apron is fully covered in carved and applied wood decorative floral detailing. This is centered with a cartouche filled with flower heads and rosettes all water gilded. This large and impressive wrought iron Louis XV style console, crafted in the 1980s, is accented with large polished cast bronze mounts consisting of acanthus leaves, laurel leaves and ball spacers between the steel elements. The table wall mounts and appears to float in space with dynamic tension. The top and bottom are crafted from tessellated dark green gray marble that adds a rich patterned surface to the overall design.
