Son of a Murano glass technician, Luigi, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Intolerant of the late 19th-century verismo culture that he encounters here, he feels rather attracted by the stimuli offered by the Venetian Biennials that he attends, coming into contact with symbolist research and with the environment of the Viennese Secession.
