About the Item

Rare and fine antique English W. Leuchars silver gilt (vermeil) and cut-glass scent bottle Maker: W. Leuchars 38 Piccadilly London The double sided scent bottle one side is for perfume (and has a hinged lid) and the other side is a screw off cap for smelling salts.  There is a cut crystal divider between the two.  The "metal" is likely "vermeil" (silver gilt, but there do not appear to be any hallmarks as one would expect if the origin of the piece is British and as fine as Leuchar's was, Royal warranted, it should not just be a gilded metal) and whether or not they are set with real pearls is likely, but again, not confirmed. Fine maker's inscription under lid on hinged lid side (as illustrated). Royal warranted dressing case maker's since 1792. Acquired by Asprey's in 1888.
