Budgerigars, cold painted, pair, Austrian circa 1920
About the Item
A superb pair of large scale Austrian bronze budgerigars. This impressive sculpture is almost life sized and depicts two budgerigars, one green and the other blue perched upon a leafy branch. They are beautifully modelled with fine detailing to the solid cast bronze which is superbly hand painted in naturalistic colours with precise markings.
The pair of bronze budgies are mounted onto an oval polished marble base, which is dark green in colour with lighter green and white natural veins and graining.
The budgerigars are in lovely original condition and are beautifully hand painted with natural colours. There are a few very small age related losses to the paint but they are generally in what I would describe as in very good condition.
