Large Antique Italian Artist Signed Hand-Carved Marble Bust of a Female Musician
About the Item
This large, substantial and very well executed bust is signed by an unknown artist, and presumed to have originated from Italy and date to approximately 1900 and done in a period Victorial realistic style. The sculpture is done in marble and depicts a young female musician or gypsy dancer in period dress gazing off in the distance atop a tambourine. This very detailed marble sculpture weighs approximately seventy five pounds and was situated on a rotating platform for the purposes of photographing it, and is not attached to the sculpture. The bust is signed on the rear back shoulder, and the artist could not be determined.
