About the Item

A lovely antique Italian Capodimonte white porcelain biscuit male and female figurines sculptured in the round depicting in a very romantic moment. This centrepiece group features two nude draped young lovers sitting on a pedestal sculptured as a wall of bricks decorated with ivy motif. The couple is embracing and looking each other, the woman tenderly embraces her beloved at his shoulders. This very high quality sculpture is full of finely handmade details. Both the male and the female bodies are perfectly shaped with extremely realistic facial expressions. The sculpture raises up on a square base fully decorated with floral festoons bordered by leaves carved trim. The statuette has the Capodimonte mark (blue N with a crown) under the base. This version of the Capodimonte mark, (five points representing a crown, but not drawn as a crown), was used by the Ginori factory in Doccia, Florence from 1820 till early 20th century. A very good condition, two very little cracks not easy to find on the base due to the cooking process not structural, Beautiful original patina. Measure: Height 30 cm, width 14 cm, depth 15 cm.
