20th Century Italian Hand-Painted and Gilt Porcelain Capodimonte Figurine Statue
About the Item
This beautiful majolica figurine would elevate any living room, kitchen, or entry way. Created in Italy circa 1950 and done in the Capodimonte style, the barbotine statue portrays a youthful couple adorned in classical Roman attire. Draped in opulent gold toga robes, they exude elegance and grace. The maiden reclines gracefully on her side, as though she has just fallen, while the young man extends his hands in a gesture of assistance. Completing the scene, two amphorae stand nearby, adding to the ambiance of ancient Rome scene. The colorful figurine stands on an integral oval base decorated with rose and foliage motifs. The large statue is inscribed with the signature of Benrose and a stamp which reads "Made in Italy". the tall decorative piece is extremely detailed and is in very good condition with rich polychrome and gilt colors.
