About the Item

A most impressive and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period patinated bronze and ormolu statue of Melodie, signed E. Picault. The statue is raised by a most decorative circular mottled base with an exceptional interlocking foliate band. Above the elegant reeded ormolu band is the striking ground and rock like designed base with a charming scroll draped across it inscribed "MELODIE". The beautiful winged Melodie stands above draped in a fine flowing garment, looking upwards with a laurel wreath in her hair and playing an ormolu guitar.
