About the Item

This elegant Art Deco ceramic vase was realized by the celebrated designer Ilse Claesson for Rörstrand in Sweden circa 1940. It features a rotund body finished in a sumptuous cream glaze with a protruding mouth that cantilevers subtly over the mouth. The mouth and interior of the vessel has been finished in an elegant black glaze, while the exterior is executed in a rich off white with horizontal crimson banding detailing of various thicknesses- imbuing the piece with a subtle dynamism. This piece represents an especially compelling example of Rörstrand ceramics by one of the makers most illustrious designers. Its clean modernist lines and sophisticated palate are sure to appeal to collectors of first rate Scandinavian Mid Century design as well as those with a penchant for all things rare and special. It is signed "Rörstrand Claesson Sweden" and is in excellent vintage condition. Dimensions: Height: 4" x Diameter: 4.5".
