Large Art Deco Boch Freres Keramis Vase

About

A large Art Deco vase produced at Boch Freres Keramis, Charles Catteau's l'Atelier de Fantaisie art pottery workshop at La Louvière, Belgium, circa 1932. Boch Freres produced a notable range of bold and colorful ceramics during the Art Deco period, influenced by Cubism, Japonisme, and the natural world. This ovoid form, model number D.1704, is decorated with stylized floral and foliage motifs enameled in a multicolored palette of bright blue, green, pink, and yellow on a deep maroon-red ground with a contrasting ivory interior. Very good condition, measuring 13 inches height x 8 inches at widest point. Fully marked on base with a hand-painted "D.1704" decor number, "Keramis / made in Belgium" black mark, and impressed "975" form or shape number.
